SDBP Leadership Nominations
The SDBP Nominations Committee is pleased to request peer and self-nominations for the President-Elect and 2 members of the Board of Directors for 2026-2027.
SDBP is committed to having a leadership team that reflects diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, including in race, ethnicity, cultural background, gender, abilities, and professional background/ training.
Please note that in the coming year, the Board will continue to focus on the implementation of identified priorities from the Strategic Plan. To align with our Sustainability and Growth goals, we are seeking a diverse and interprofessional pool of candidates for all nominations.
Currently: the board consists of 5 physicians, 2 psychologists, 1 nurse practitioner, 2 social workers, and 1 trainee/recent grad. The leadership positions rotating off include 1 physician, 1 psychologist, and 1 social worker.
Deadline: May 6, 2026
Positions are open to all members who meet the following criteria:
Board of Director candidates should have:
- Demonstrated a commitment to leadership and growth in leadership within SDBP.
- Held leadership roles and/or made important contributions within a Committee/SIG/Section or to the society broadly.
- The desire and ability to collaborate and balance consideration of the needs of the varied groups and individuals within SDBP.
Additional factors that may be considered in choosing BOD candidates include:
- An individuals’ unique skill set or highly specialized expertise that fits SDBP programmatic needs and strategic initiatives.An individuals’ contribution to inclusive and equitable representation of our membership, which includes a professionally, demographically, and personally diverse body.
Presidential candidates should have:
- At minimum, a Presidential candidate must have previously been a member of the BOD.
- Although not required, prior experience with other SDBP leadership positions, including as a co-chair of a Committee, Section, or SIG, is optimal.

How a Name Gets on the Ballot:
1. You can nominate more than one individual (including yourself) for each open slot. All nominees must be current members of SDBP in good standing and eligible to hold office. To view current 2026 SDBP members, please go to the online membership directory located on your member portal of the SDBP website.
To submit your candidate(s) or yourself for one of these positions, please click on the SUBMIT link below where you will need to include the following information:
- Name, email of Nominee, and position being nominated for.
- Brief description of nominee’s qualifications, including reason(s) for being nominated.
- Nominee’s Resume
The SDBP Nominations Committee will review all nominations and determine two individuals to include on the ballot for President and at least 2 individuals to include on the ballot for the Board of Directors positions.
2. Petition nomination: In the event that a voting member wishes to place their own or another voting member’s name on the ballot for an open position without review by the Nominations Committee, they may submit a petition signed by at least five percent (5%) of voting members of the Society (currently 32 members), naming the candidate and the elected office for which one is being nominated.
The following documents must be included and emailed to info@sdbp.org with the signed petition by the deadline below:
- Resume of the nominated individual
- Biographical sketch of the nominee's qualifications, including the reasons for being nominated
- Statement by the nominated individual indicating their willingness to serve, if elected by the membership.
Deadline for ALL nominations: May 6, 2026 (11:59pm eastern).
The ballot will be sent out in June to the 2026 voting members of the Society to cast their vote electronically.
Please note: the ballot will only go out to voting members who have renewed dues for 2026, so please make sure your dues are PAID FOR 2026.
